  • Northam: Medicaid Expansion Is The Smart Choice For Virginia

    Richmond, VA – Yesterday the Medicaid Innovation and Reform Commission met for the first time to begin the process of putting in place reforms to expand Medicaid. The Commission was established as a result of Senator Northam’s efforts during the 2013 budget process and Virginia now has a pathway for expansion.
     

    This issue is one of the key differences between Senator Northam and his Tea Party opponent E.W. Jackson. Northam supports the bipartisan effort in Virginia to expand Medicaid, and Jackson opposes the move all together.

  • Northam Applauds Supreme Court Ruling On Voter Registration Law

    Richmond, VA – Today the United States Supreme Court struck down the Arizona law that required people to prove their citizenship when registering to vote.  The Democratic Nominee for Lt.   • Northam gets top spot on Democrats’ primary ballot

    State Sen. Ralph S. Northam, D-Norfolk, will be first on the ballot for the Democratic primary on June 11, when Virginia Democrats will pick their candidate for lieutenant governor. Aneesh Chopra, who was appointed as the first Chief Technology Officer of the United States by President Barack Obama, after serving as technology chief under Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, will get the second slot on the ballot. Both candidates had filed their ballot petitions on the March 11 deadline, prompting the State Board of Elections to decide the ballot slots by drawing in a meeting in Richmond on Wednesday.
